Layla Messkoub is a mixed-media artist based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Working primarily on paper, she combines traditional printmaking, drawing, painting, handmade papers, metallic leaf, and hand embroidery to create richly layered botanical environments.

Messkoub earned her degree from Columbia University, where she began exploring relief printmaking and other print-based processes. Over time, her work expanded to incorporate collected papers, textiles, and visual material gathered through travel, alongside her own hand-carved and printed imagery.

Her compositions are built through accumulation. Printed leaves, flowers, architectural lines, translucent washes, and stitched details gather, drift, and overlap across the surface. The resulting works suggest imagined ecosystems shaped by movement, memory, and the changing experience of light.

Messkoub has exhibited her work nationally for more than fifteen years, and her work is held in private collections throughout the United States.
